In this first episode of Being Tandy, I describe the quote from Sherwood Anderson’s novella Winesburg, Ohio (1919) that inspired me to be brave and accept my vulnerabilities to find love and strength, which, in turn, inspired me to create this podcast.
I briefly describe some of the challenges of my life ranging from surviving abuse, the death of my child, miscarriages, and mental health challenges.
I introduce aspects of how I’ve incorporated the notion of ‘being Tandy’ into my university teaching to inspire my students.
I mention the challenges of facing significant grief (including a brief mention of suicidal ideation), which will be addressed in more detail in future episodes of Being Tandy.
I hope you find the podcast helpful and I’m excited to learn about how listeners have incorporated the notion of ‘being Tandy’ into their own lives or hear stories about how accepting vulnerability has already led to their strength.
Don’t forget to Be Tandy!
